It seems like for the western world dry fasting is mostly un-mapped territory, but in Russia, natural doctors and regular people are successfully using it to heal many “incurable” diseases, burn fat, rejuvenate and for hundreds of other amazing benefits. In this article, I will first give you a short review of one of the best Russian articles on dry fasting I found online and then will write a few words about my own experience on dry fasting. So far I did three nine-day dry fasts, and the last one was the easiest and most successful one 🙂
If your goal is to burn fat and keep it off long term, I would not recommend fasting at all. It would be way more effective, sustainable and healthier to start eating naturally slimming raw vegan food. I’ve been a raw vegan since 2007 and designed a solid raw vegan diet plan for spring for a whole month, full of filling and slimming recipes. You can get it for a ridiculously low price here: Balanced Raw Vegan Diet Plan for spring.
What is dry fasting?
Dry fasting or “full fasting” means that person does not ingest absolutely nothing, not even water. It is not as bad as it sounds though since in emergency situation body can produce all the water and energy it needs from body’s fat storages. An even skinny person carries around 5 to 10 kg of body fat and usually can sustain himself or herself for several days quite successfully. There are only two real dangers – self-intoxication or running entirely out of fat reserves.
Dangers of water fasting and dry fasting
Firstly, you need to be very careful about any type of fasts. I do not recommend to fast on water without supervision longer than three days for healthy individuals, and if you have any severe health challenges, I would only recommend fasting with a healthcare professional who has experience with fasting.
I do not recommend dry fasting without supervision and previous water fasting experience at all.
Here is the list of conditions that might make fasting especially dangerous (taken from the Russian doctor’s site: http://rylov.ru/golodanie_negativ), but it still might be done under the careful supervision and with proper preparation, since I saw people getting better on fasting with these conditions:
- Malignant tumors of any localization; hemophilia, leukemia, lymphocytic leukemia
- Active tuberculosis of the lungs and other organs
- Hyperthyroidism and other endocrine diseases
- Severe mental illness
- Active acute and chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and also hepatic steatosis
- Dystrophy kidney, nephrosis, acute nephritis, glomerulonephritis, and chronic hemodialysis
- Purulent-inflammatory diseases of the respiratory organs and the abdominal cavity
- Circulatory failure II and III level
- Persistent irregular heart rhythm and conduction
- Coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction with circulatory failure
- Chronic ischemic cerebrovascular disease
- Severe underweight (cachexia) of various etiologies
- Thrombophlebitis and thrombosis
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Young age (under 14 years) and old age (over 70 years old – except very healthy individuals)
- The inability of the patient to maintain themselves independently
I would also add that people with diabetes, especially those who take insulin should fast under supervision. With all these conditions it’s better to start with a green juice fast and healthy raw vegan lifestyle.
Short review of the article “Homotoxicology: “dry” fasting” by Aleksander Rylov

Water is the basis of all life. It is the most abundant and essential part of the human body. The quality and structure of water in our organism is the most critical component of our health and wellbeing.
The most significant difference between dry fasting and water fasting is that during the water fasting person is still consuming water, but on dry fasting, a body is producing endogenous, perfectly structured water from its fat reserves. Only adequately structured water can nourish, cleanse and heal our body. Poorly structured water can cause more harm than good. Because our organism spends lots of energy on purifying and structuring the water we drink, we can give our body even deeper rest and peace by stopping not only eating, but also drinking.
Water is a carrier of information, and it can store positive and healing vibrations, but it can also carry destructive and harmful energy. People are often storing negative information in their body for many years. And this is the most powerful and magical transformation that dry fasting can give to people. To erase this old information by using up the excess water. This kind of water that carries the negative information is typically found in chronically inflamed areas of our body.
Almost any type of disease is connected to inflammation and negative energy carried by water trapped in the diseased area. Inflammation cannot exist without excess water in the body. If water goes away, the inflammatory reaction is released. During the dry fasting, our organism is looking for any source of water much more aggressively than in the ordinary conditions. This makes it possible to reduce the inflammation and clean out even most tough diseases.
Water in our body
There is no chemically pure water in human’s body, it is always filled with minerals, vitamins, glucose, amino acids and other nutrients. Perfectly structured water containing all the essential nutrient creates a perfect environment and healthy body. But many times people consume poorly structured water. For example, when H2O is heated above 75 degrees Celsius, it loses it’s natural structure and becomes very poorly absorbable for the body. And many people drink even worse water – filled with toxins and carrying negative information of anger or fear.
This water, including boiled one, is not just going through the body, it has to go through many organs and through the blood. It uses a lot of body’s energy to process and leaves an unwanted residue behind it. In many cases, part of this water gets stuck in the specific area of the body, intoxicating organs, feeding parasites and developing a disease. It is tough to eliminate this pools of toxic water from the body, but it is possible to do on a dry fast.
Another benefit of dry fasting over the water fasting is that body starts using up all the available nutrients, including fat cells, old weakened cells and other unused material in the organism on a much faster rate. Specialists say that one day of dry fasting equals approximately 3 days of water fasting. So dry fasting is a real shortcut to healthier and cleaner body, but it’s also more dangerous and requires serious preparation.

And again, please do not attempt dry fasting without supervision and previous water fasting experience.
